Literature Text

I'm peacefully encased
By this liquid second skin.
It surrounds me as I glide.
I slip through it with ease.

The eerie echoing of simple sounds
Is suffocatingly silenced,
Like I'm trying to hear though
Ears stuffed with cotton.

The breeze billows toward me
And I inhale it slowly.
The stench is only the least bit rotten,
Mostly clean and organic.

It's beauty is always hidden.
Though colorful and inviting,
You'd never miss it completely
Even if you're not paying attention.

More than a pinch is added
To this unboiling pot
And I'm sure it would quench my thirst
If I could stomach it.
Where am I?

By the suggestion of my long-lost friend :iconsilver-35-oasis: I wrote another poem like the one I lost long ago. It's a different place than the first one, but it's ok.

It's a "5 Senses" poem where you describe a place through smell, sight, taste, touch, and sound.

I don't think I did the best job, but I'm just glad I got it done. It took 4 times longer than my normal time to write because I was trying not to give away too much!
Total time: 20 minutes

Lovely representation of hearing

This line "But, it's mostly clean and organic." bothers me a little bit, I think it flows a little oddly in comparison to the rest.

I'd guess the ocean, as it makes me think of ocean breeze bringing the fresh scent mixed with decomposing fish...and swimming through salt water, which isn't such a good thing to imbibe.

Interesting choice in saying "always hidden" beauty...
