Off the Shelf and Opened... by =Out-Of-Spite:iconOut-Of-Spite:

Sitting in silent denial,
Contemplation
thinking outside the box
is hard when the walls are closing in

I'm afraid;
I'm not quite me.

Perpetual frown chiseled
Into otherwise emotionless features
Ward off your feeble attempts
At children's pleasant conversations.

I'm not rude
Or uninterested.
I'm rubber and molds,
Plastic features.
Hands that can't hold,
Eyes that can't glow.

I just don't have it in me.

My heart is cut off from my face,
Draining the twinkle from my eyes.
My childhood has passed...

But, I'm not the only victim of this grown-up drive by.

Full title : Lost Value: Off the Shelf and Open

Submission for a contest by: :iconalmalobana:

A poem about being disconnected from the world. Originally suppose to be about "emotional disconnection" but I decided to expand it into disconnection from everyone and everything... Like a doll in a box... set on display

To know oneself, one should assert oneself. Psychology is action, not thinking about oneself. We continue to shape our personality all our life. If we knew ourselves perfectly, we should die. ~ Albert Camus, 1913-1960

thanks.
I mean, that's all adults want us to be anyways... Their little doll on display... We just can't talk or act or dress how we want to

which stifles expression. the reason i think my son and i are so close, he's allowed to express himself without fear of judgment. we have to allow people/kids...to BE :)

Eyes of glass stare directly at death
From deep sleep I have broken away
No one knows, no one hears what I say"

I'm going to have to fave this just for the third and fourth lines
'thinking outside the box
is hard when the walls are closing in'
I should probably do plays on words more often
