Tick Tock
It's 11 o'clock
I'm 23 tonight
And my time is ending.
I feel so old sometimes
And I wonder what
It's like to die
When I think about all the
Time I spent remembering
And thinking of ways
It could be different.

Tick Tock
It's 5 o'clock
I'm 17 years old
Laying in a hospital
Scared of what the outcome was
Overwhelmed by apathy
Trying to make sense of this
And wondering what will happen
With this new course of action
What the future will bring
For our baby.

Tick Tock
It's 4 o'clock
I'm 16 years old
I wish I could rewind
Change the past
Just this once
Forget my mistakes
The decisions I made
I would have said no
Told you to leave
And forget about me

Tick Tock
It's 10 o'clock
I'm 10 this morning.
But, my family's uncanny
I really can't stand it
My life's too demanding
I need to find an end
A motive to continue
An escape
Before it's too late
And I get stuck here forever.

Tick Tock
It's 8 o'clock
I'm 8 years old
It's my first time to move
And we're packing up
All of the boxes and
Pieces of time
From when this land was
mine
Not yours to pave roads
And force us from our homes.

Tick Tock
It's 1 o'clock
I'm 1 year old
It's my birthday today
I don't know what I'm in for.
My mom made a cake
But, I'm too tired to eat
I think I'll just sleep
And dream
Of life after this
And all the things I don't want to miss.

June Prompt #12: Numbers

submitted to :iconmisfit-t0y: [link]

Take a look at time rewinding as the hands on the clock keep spinning... remember the choices you made and how life would change if you had made different decisions. Turning the clock backwards: what would you change if you could?

“The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A death. What’s that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then, you go live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you’re too young, go collect your pension, then, when you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day. You work forty years until you’re young enough to enjoy your retirement. You drink alcohol, you party, and you get ready for High School. You go to primary school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, and you spend your last 9 months floating with luxuries like central heating, spa, room service on tap, then you finish off as an orgasm.”

[Special thanks to :iconmatahari7: for sending me this quote. It fits so well! (except for the poem being serious and this quote being sad)]

Ok, it took me a while for this one. Seriously, I had a lot of trouble with this prompt. At first, I had no idea what to write about and I didn't want to do what everyone else was doing with this prompt. So, I waited... And then I saw a clock in the store that looked like a face (think Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast) and I knew I wanted to incorperate clocks into it.
11pm = 23 in military time, 5pm=17 in military time, the rest are am times because time is moving backwards. Midnight is the dawn of time and also the ending. See how it circles around?
A little background: When I was 1 I fell asleep in my highchair and fell face-first into my birthday cake. When I was 8 we moved because the state wanted to build a highway through our land and though I was young I still realized the injustice of it all. When I was 10 I had my first suicidial thoughts. When I was 16 I got pregant. When I was 17, my daughter was born. I'm 23 now and that explains it all for you

Wowsa.
I immediately picked up on the military time. This is really, really good. Might even say it's my favorite so far.

Wow, I like this a lot. Love the time/age/youth thing there.

I'll take a minute to re-read this and enjoy...

Yea it took a while to figure out I wanted military time in some of those because I didn't know I was going to incorperate my own life into this at all.
Thank you! I'm glad you like it so much :D

Eyes of glass stare directly at death
From deep sleep I have broken away
No one knows, no one hears what I say"
